Down on the Farm

I have been looking forward to tomorrow all week, it is the day of my first hair appointment with Adrienne Russell at La Bella Salon since before we left for Oregon in November! In light of that, here are a few of Dutch (Adrienne’s son) and Maddox (her nephew)!

Man I am not enjoying shooting in the Louisiana heat, but it’s people like Adrienne (and these sweet boys) that make me glad to be spending the month here in Ruston!

L’Atelier Annabel Lee

While visiting my niece in Sacramento briefly this week she agreed to model this lovely outfit that I thought was perfect for her! Pants, shirt and hair piece all are handmade by an Ashland, Oregon local mom and they are great. She has the cutest little store and a booth at the Ashland Artisan’s Emporium! You can find her on Facebook here!

Anyway, I love her stuff so much I have to share! I also have some other pictures of another local crafter/designer I need to post as well. I will try to do that tomorrow! Thanks you Kylie for showing this outfit off on our way into dinner in the parking lot. 🙂 Such a sweet girl and she just turned 3! Happy Birthday girlie!

This is Kylie again an hour later after dinner eating ice cream with my son, Josiah. She cracks him up as you can see. They are two peas in a pod!

Welcome Baby Liam

We have spent the last several days in the car driving from Ashland, Oregon to Ruston, Louisiana to do some work and visit family for the month of June (before we head off to Kenya for two weeks in July). If worked out perfect for us to spend a day in Dallas on the way to visit some friends there and photograph Liam, the newborn son of our good friends Will and Jennifer who used to live in Ruston and go to church with us.  We were sad Will had to work, so family pictures didn’t work out, but maybe on the way home. 🙂

Here’s a little sneak peak.

This is Liam and his handmade wooden guitar rattle. His daddy builds guitars and plays them, so it was the perfect fit for Liam’s newborns!

He is a little rock star, sporting his mohawk already. 🙂

This sweet hat was made by Cute As a Button, check out their hats and hair accessories they are so fun! Each of their items features a vintage button and is one of a kind! They are Ashland, Oregon locals! 🙂

Geek Love

We are a pretty geeky little family. My hubby is a total geek and we have two pretty tech-savvy preschoolers. We play Wii and XBox Kinect as a family, watch Big Bang Theory, and enjoy internet mems and relate to them during our daily routines just to name a few things. Recently Josiah has been playing with a pair of these 3D glasses that the lenses popped out of and when I saw him in them it sparked a photo shoot vision in me which resulted in our “Geek Love” shoot in Ashland today. This wall is in an alley way on someone’s shed, looks like they repainted over some unwanted art work. 🙂

We are making the best of a too short and not so even hair cut Josiah received from a local salon in town, and I think Josiah is rock’n the look. He kind of looks like Ralphie from a A Christmas Story in some of these, which Brian thinks is sad, but I think is too cute! Hey I will get away with it while I can! 🙂

Pregnant in Ashland

So on Sunday we will be pulling out of Ashland, Oregon to head south to Louisiana for June and then on to Kenya for two weeks in July before returning to the Rogue valley in lat July. I really can’t express how much I love Ashland. It’s a combination of the breath-taking scenery, the interesting people, the weather, the local business/economic structure, our church here, the parks, and the culture that I can only describe as: “a place I feel like I fit in.”

That being said I was to excited to meet Renee and Mike today for some pregnancy photography all over Ashland today. These two are so fun fun to be around and Mike, is an excellent photographer’s assistant, carry things, repositioning my enormous softbox  and shielding Renee from harsh sunlight.

Renee and Mike: I am so excited to meet your new baby boy in July, and thanks so much for hanging out with me today!

Look how beautiful this girl is!

Why do so many men try to give wet willies during photo sessions?

To all my Ruston Friends: I am booked through June 19th, and I can take one more session for the last half of June. And for my Rogue Valley Friends. I am taking bookings for the end of July and the first week in August. To book email me at Crystal@CrystalGarcia.com!

Also I will be doing simple portraits in the plaza this coming Friday night around 7pm if you would like to come get in front of my camera or help out or just hang out with me while I shoot, let me know by email!
