Cooper 10 Months

The Slate family ended up late getting their Christmas picture taken and Cooper’s 9 month session because of my sister’s death and me leaving town. They were SO gracious and understanding and I am SO grateful to them for that! Here they are! Cooper has the biggest smile of any baby ever I think!

Cooper let me get out my off camera lighting and play with it today, which I rarely do with babies his age, because their are so quick and they don’t tolerate you testing your lights. I was so glad he let me and that I didn’t have too many “test shots” before I got it right!

Haley

Yesterday I got to shoot a few pictures for a woman who has helped me so much my in my childbirth education and now even in my photography business! Shonda is the nurse in charge of the Women’s Center at our hospital.  In college she let me do some of my internship hours observing her childbirth class when I was first starting to teach the Bradley Method. She has also passed out my contact info, let me use teaching aids, classroom space and recently had me hang up some of my newborn photography work in the halls of the labor and delivery floor!

When Shonda asked me to photograph her daughter Haley, I was excited to do something for her in return for all she’s done for me. Once I met a began photographing Haley I got excited about how beautiful and fun she is! Man I wish I had the confidence and poise Haley has when I was in junior high, I might not have been so miserable!

Thank you Haley for being wonderful to photograph and being an example of to other girls your age of how to be classy, cute and full of personality!

The Richardsons and some business

So I am going and back and blogging shoots that we got out to clients over the last month because there were so many I could not possibly blog them all in order at the time!

We have had such a busy holiday season with 45 portrait sessions, 1 wedding and 9 snow day sessions in 5 weeks!!! We are so excited at the growth our business and the blog has experienced, it has been overwhelming! Thank you all for sharing all your beautiful families with me. We still have several shoots before the end of the year, which include lots of newborns and we already have 5 newborns on the books for January alone of 2010!

We have decided to take just one more newborn in the month of January, so that as of the new year we can cut down on some of the volume of sessions in order to give you each the most attention and creative energy we have to give! This will mean a slight increase in price, but will also mean you get more from us as well!

In 2010 we will also be sharing some photo tips for moms, so if you have a question you would like answered let me know, and of course there will be more give aways for those of you who are so kind and leave some comment love!

And without further ado, here are the Richardsons, one of my favorite families!

Home Sweet Home

Last night we returned home from our trip to Washington for my sister’s funeral. It was the hardest trip I have ever made. The kids did not do well, woke up often during the night and hardly ever napped, and there was much to be done at a time when everyone feels like doing nothing. Thank you for all your kind emails, calls and cards, they are very much appreciated!

On a lighter note, two days before we left I got to shoot Emily’s maternity pictures. It was the after I found out about my sister’s death, but Emily is one of those people I should be around to cheer me up on a normal day, so I was glad to shoot and get my mind off things before heading out of town! Emily is so special to me because I shot her bridals and her wedding when we were both in college and in the same major, sharing many classes. Now I get to photograph her pregnancy and her and James’ new baby and I could not be more emotional or excited about it!

Here is Emily in all her beautiful pregnant glory!
